The original Charlotte Hornets (1901-1972). It’s all but official the Charlotte Bobcats (NBA) will rebrand and the beloved Hornets will come home. This city has struggled with identity, has tried to grind a national and global name, and you wonder if this just might tip the scale. Excited to find out.
It’s easy to look up to the west for waves, weather and terrain, but there’s plenty o beauty back east.
Downtown Denver never looked so good.
More redesigns here.
Thanks to thatkidthere, I got a great taste of Chicago beer on a recent weekend trip. We did the 90-minute brewery tour at Half Acre in Lincoln Square, which is not to miss, even if you’ve “been there, done that”. They only do one per week (Saturday, 1pm) and you have to line up outside at least an hour before to secure a spot. If you make the cut, you get a pint glass (to keep) and 3 full beers for $10 while the guys tell the company story and throw in some random Kurt Russell trivia. Beer and presentation are equally great (“Tasty Waves” summer pale and “Big Hugs” imperial stout).
Other highlights were the hometown collab between Finch’s and Threadless, Local Option in Lincoln Park and Revolution in Logan Square. A lot to like about that city, both beer and otherwise.
